Kathy Ortiz

Kathy is Of-Counsel for the firm. Kathy has extensive experience preparing and prosecuting patents in a range of technologies, including semiconductor process and packaging, memory and storage, software, and mechanical/medical devices. Kathy has practiced both as in-house counsel and in private practice.

Kathy worked at Intel Corporation for over fifteen years, both as a legal intern while in law school, and subsequently as in-house patent counsel. Kathy supported patent portfolio management, litigation and licensing efforts while at Intel, as well as patent preparation and prosecution.

Prior to joining the legal profession, Kathy worked as a thin film/plasma processing intern at the IBM research facility in San Jose, and as a CVD intern at NASA Ames, Moffett Field, while an undergraduate. Kathy has extensive work experience as a process engineer, working for Hewlett Packard for over ten years, both sustaining and developing various semiconductor processes.
